• Memorial bench dedicated to ‘Mayor of Chestnut Hill' (chestnuthilllocal.com) — A new memorial bench on Germantown Avenue now honors Thomas “Tommy” Walsh, a lifelong Chestnut Hill resident affectionately known as the neighborhood’s “beloved honorary mayor.” Family, friends, and local organizations he volunteered with gathered Saturday to celebrate his joyful spirit, decades of community service, and the way he brightened daily life for everyone along the Avenue.

• Morris Arboretum hosts its largest-ever fundraising gala (chestnuthilllocal.com) — Morris Arboretum & Gardens recently hosted its largest-ever Moonlight & Roses gala, honoring Chestnut Hill resident and longtime board leader Ellen Nalle Hass for decades of service. Hass, who grew up in Chestnut Hill and found solace in nearby parks and the arboretum, was recognized alongside Bartlett Tree Experts for their environmental stewardship and research benefiting local trees.
