After Four Decades in Business, a Family Jewelry Shop Closes in Philadelphia
For Gary Mann, jewelry wasn’t simply a career—it was a family tradition. Raised in Rochester, New York, he grew up around jewelers and watchmakers, and his family history traced the craft back as many as ten generations, through goldsmiths, silversmiths, and blacksmiths.
With Mann’s recent passing this year, the family made the difficult decision to close Gary Mann Jewelers—the family business. They ran for many decades in the Manayunk neighborhood—and will hold a final, going-out-of-business sale open to the public beginning September 24, 2026.

Gary Mann Jewelers was one of the pioneers to establish itself in Manayunk, setting the standard for timeless style and exceptional taste for many of the early entrepreneurs in the district. Mann opened the store in 1988 in the distinctive, artsy neighborhood west of Center City.
