Upcoming Juneteenth celebrations in Chester County (dailylocal.com) — Coatesville residents have several hometown Juneteenth events lined up, including a Father & Child Basketball Tournament on June 20 at Jeanne Treadwell Memorial Park and a Freedom Parade on June 21 from 6th & Merchant to Paul Palmer Park. The celebration continues that afternoon with a community fair and music at Paul Palmer Park, alongside additional Juneteenth activities across Chester County.

2. Coatesville VA to host Summer VetFest at WCU (dailylocal.com) — Coatesville-area veterans and families are invited to Summer VetFest this Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at West Chester University’s Sykes Student Union. Hosted by the Coatesville VA Medical Center and Chester County Veterans Affairs, the free festival offers benefit checks, health care enrollment, job and education resources, kids’ activities, and even a car show, plus lunch while supplies last.

3. R.L. Peterson (ourlocalcommunityonline.com) — Coatesville residents are mourning the passing of 91-year-old R.L. Peterson, who died peacefully in the city on June 8 after a long, family-centered life. The proud U.S. Army veteran and longtime Shelly’s Lumber sales representative is remembered by children in Downingtown and Kennett Square, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and extended family across Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and North Carolina. A graveside service will be held June 16 in Green Mountain, North Carolina.

4. Philly Ride for Life Raises Funds for Crisis Pregnancy Centers (catholicphilly.com) — A June 27 Philly Ride for Life in Exton will help fund several crisis pregnancy centers, including Chester County Connect Care in Coatesville. Riders of all ages can choose road routes or a family-friendly trail option, with most proceeds going directly to the centers and the rest supporting young adult missionaries involved with Biking for Babies.
