• Danville Area Community Center begins offering free memberships to eligible veterans (northcentralpa.com) — Eligible veterans living in or near Danville can now receive free memberships to the Danville Area Community Center through the Veterans Thrive initiative, funded by Montour County and local partners. The program also offers monthly Coffee & Camaraderie meetups and a Veterans Community Day this November, and veterans can apply in person at the DACC front desk.
   

• Mahoning Township Police partners with ICE through 287(g) program (wnep.com) — Mahoning Township Police near Danville have joined ICE’s 287(g) program, giving trained officers more authority to temporarily detain people wanted by federal immigration authorities. Township supervisors unanimously approved the move this week, which also brings federal grant funding for police vehicles and officer training that will shape how traffic stops and local enforcement operate around Danville.
