BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The last weekend in June is offering a prelude to the nation's 250th birthday on July 4th with fireworks, concerts, and the opening of a new exhibit exploring how Washington's famous crossing of the Delaware has been visually portrayed by artists over the years.

The weekend kicks off with the opening of "The Crossing: Picturing the American Revolution," on Saturday at the Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, and continues Saturday evening with a concert under the stars in Upper Bucks County.

Other fun things to do this weekend include two pop concerts by the Warminster Symphony Orchestra, a Brews and Bites event at Pennsbury Manor, and a Family Fun Day on the grounds of the historic Half-Moon Inn, Newtown.

Concert Under The Stars In Tinicum

The Riverside Symphonia presents a "Concert Under The Stars" on Saturday, June 27, beginning at 8 p.m. at Tinicum Park on River Road in Erwinna. Bring tables, chairs, and a picnic supper to enjoy before the concert. Gates open at 6 p.m. for picnickers. This year, the Symphonia presents an evening of light classical popular, and patriotic music followed by a fireworks finale under the stars on the banks of the Delaware River. Tickets are $30 at the gate. Tickets for children ages 7 to 18 are $10. The park is located at 963 River Road, Erwinna, Pa. 18920.

"The Crossing" Opens At The Michener

In a new exhibit celebrating the 250th anniversary of George Washington's famous crossing of the Delaware River in 1776, the Michener Art Museum explores how the event has been visually portrayed by artists over the years. "The Crossing: Picturing the American Revolution," on view from Saturday, June 27, through Sunday, January 10, 2027, compares historic perspectives of Washington’s Crossing with responses by national and international contemporary artists.

Brews And Bites At Penn's Country Estate

Pennsbury Manor, William Penn’s country estate in Falls Township, will kick off the Fourth of July celebration on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. with Brews and Bites. During the event, visitors can sample artisanal beers, wines, ciders, and spirits from local breweries, savor delectable bites served by food trucks, and enjoy live music in a relaxed summer atmosphere. The cost is $65 for VIP admission, which includes one commemorative 16-ounce glass). General admission is $45. Half-Moon Inn Hosts Family Fun Day

The public is invited to step back in time and experience the sights, sounds, and activities of early America at the Newtown Historic Association's Family Fun Day, taking place on Sunday, June 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the historic Half-Moon Inn on Court Street in Newtown Borough. The free community event invites families, children, and history enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy an afternoon of hands-on activities, games, and educational experiences celebrating America's heritage and its 250th birthday.

Free Summer Pops Concerts This Weekend

The Warminster Symphony Orchestra presents two free pop concerts this weekend, one in Ivyland and the other in Warminster. The first takes place on Saturday, June 27, beginning at 7 p.m. at Ivyland Commons Park, 1005 Pennsylvania Avenue. The second concert takes place on Sunday, June 28, beginning at 7 p.m. at Warminster Community Park, 1100 Veterans Way. Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Refreshments will be available.
