DOYLESTOWN, PA – Doylestown Area Regional Transit, known locally as the DART, will soon be rolling into Warminster.

On Thursday, State Reps. Brian Munroe and Tim Brennan joined representatives from Bucks County Transit and local officials to announce the continuation of funding for the DART and the long-awaited expansion of the program into Warminster Township.

The DART program, which started in 2010, provides public transportation to business and government centers in Doylestown Borough, the Route 611 corridor in Warrington, and westward to New Britain and Chalfont along Route 202 for a $1 fee and free for seniors over the age of 65.

Since taking office as state representative in 2022, Munroe said he has considered the program’s expansion into Warminster a top priority.

“As many of my constituents know, I have been advocating for DART’s expansion into Warminster for several years now,” said Munroe. “I am thrilled to announce that DART is officially expanding its service, and now Warminster residents can enjoy safe, reliable, and accessible public transportation at the nominal cost of only one dollar-- or nothing if you’re over the age of 65.”

Munroe also said he was grateful that the funding was secured on a bipartisan basis.

“When I think of transportation policy, I think of the seniors I’ve spoken with about their struggles getting by each day; the veterans at the local Legion trying to stay connected; the young person with a disability who finally found a job that matters; the person struggling to get to their dialysis appointments; and the worker struggling to afford getting from point A to point B,” Brennan said. “These are the types of people who are able to thrive thanks to services like those provided by Bucks County Transport, and serving the real needs of Pennsylvanians should be at the heart of our public transportation policies.”

Added Jim Raymond, CEO of Bucks County Transport, which operates the DART, “This investment will have a meaningful impact by providing seniors, workers, and members of the disability community with greater access to jobs, medical appointments, shopping, and other essential services."

Warrington Township Supervisor Mike Diorka and Lou White, chairman of the DART Bus Committee, also spoke.

“I would like to thank the DART Bus Committee, the Bucks County Transport Board of Directors, PennDOT, Rep. Brennan, and the Bucks County Commissioners for their support throughout the process of advocating for this funding,” said Munroe.

Brian Munroe represents Pennsylvania's 144th House District, which includes Warminster Township and Warrington Township.

Tim Brennan represents Pennsylvania's 29th House District, which includes Doylestown Borough, Doylestown Township, Buckingham, New Hope Borough, Solebury Township, New Britain Borough and Chalfont Borough.
