BUCKS COUNTY, PA — In a historic first, the NRDC Action Fund—affiliated with the Natural Resources Defense Council — has formally endorsed a Republican candidate for Congress: Brian Fitzpatrick.

The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund also endorsed Fitzpatrick for reelection, in recognition of his leadership in protecting clean water, confronting toxic PFAS contamination, holding polluters accountable, and advancing affordable, American-made clean energy.

“Congressman Fitzpatrick has repeatedly stood up to both the Trump White House and Republican leaders in Congress to defend his constituents against the polluter lobby,” said Jed Ober, managing director of the NRDC Action Fund. “He understands that a cleaner environment and abundant, affordable, American-made energy from the sun and the wind will strengthen our economy, lower costs for families and create jobs in Pennsylvania and across the country.”

“Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick understands that protecting our environment and building a strong economy go hand in hand,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Sara Chieffo. “We appreciate his leadership fighting for affordable clean energy solutions that will bring down families’ bills while creating good jobs in Pennsylvania and across the nation, for protecting clean water and communities from toxic PFAS chemicals, and for standing up to Big Polluters and to the Trump administration in order to safeguard our environment. We are proud to endorse him for reelection.”

Fitzpatrick said he's "deeply honored to be the first Republican candidate ever endorsed by the NRDC Action Fund and LCV Action Fund. This is truly a recognition of the work we have done together in Bucks and Montgomery counties to protect clean water, confront PFAS contamination, hold polluters accountable, and prove that environmental stewardship and economic strength are not competing goals.”

He continued, “America should not have to choose between protecting our environment and building the future. We can—and must — deliver both. That means safer drinking water, healthier communities, lower energy costs, good American jobs, and the next generation of clean energy technology being built here at home by American workers.”

Fitzpatrick added, "Working side by side, we will continue turning this shared commitment into results families can feel: safer water, healthier communities, stronger jobs, and a cleaner, more competitive America.”

Fitzpatrick is running for re-election in Pennsylvania's 01 Congressional District, which includes all of Bucks County and a portion of Montgomery County. He is being challenged by Bucks County Commissioner Bob Harvie, who secured the Democratic nomination in May.
