Retiring Warrington Detective Leaves A Legacy Of Justice

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — After 26 years of service with the Warrington Township Police Department, Detective Bernard J. Schaffer is retiring.

Schaffer spent 19 years in the criminal investigative division and previously served as a Bucks County narcotics officer. He was also a founding member of Warrington Township's Unmanned Aircraft Systems Division, most recently earning certification as an FAA drone pilot.

Schaffer describes his early years as a detective as “holding doors and getting coffee for better and more experienced investigators,” but he would go on to distinguish himself through multiple high-profile arrests for violent crimes.

The pinnacle of Schaffer’s career was achieved when he re-opened the Gloria Korzon cold case homicide investigation. He spent a year researching and organizing 40 years of evidence, before successfully presenting it to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

Through the combined efforts of the DA’s Office, the county detectives, and Warrington Police Criminal Investigative Division CID, William Korzon confessed to killing Gloria and was finally brought to justice.

Detective Schaffer expressed his thanks to the people of Bucks County and the Warrington Township community for their trust, often at some of the most difficult times of their lives.

"Their bravery and commitment to seeing justice served has been an ongoing inspiration," he said. "I will keep many of you in my heart and thoughts long after his retirement."
