Traffic Tension Turns Violent In Warrington Road Rage Incident

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A 44-year-old Warrington man faces numerous charges after a road rage incident on Monday turned violent.

Just before 10:30 a.m., Warrington Police were called to the intersection of Street Road and Easton Road for the report of two men fighting.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who said he had exited the Creekview Shopping Center and drove into the left lane with a flat tire. At that time, a Jeep cut in front of his vehicle.

As traffic slowed for the traffic signal, the driver of the Jeep, identified by police as Edward John Dotson of Warrington, exited his vehicle while holding an expandable baton.

The victim told police that he feared for his life and believed Dotson may have been armed with a firearm.

Police said the victim attempted to get away and eventually pulled into a vacant lot. Police said Dotson followed the victim into the lot, exited his Jeep, and approached the driver while still holding the baton.

Fearing that Dotson was going to attack him, the victim exited his vehicle. Police said Dotson then punched the victim in the face with a closed fist. The victim fought back during the confrontation, police said.

During the confrontation, police said the victim sustained swelling and a cut to his lip and a cut to his hand.

A short time later, officers located the Jeep and observed the expandable baton in plain view inside the vehicle.

A warrant was issued for Dotson’s arrest. On Tuesday, officers located Dotson and took him into custody. Dotson was processed and arraigned by Judge Galloway, who set bail at $10,000 or 10 percent cash.

Dotson was charged with two counts of simple assault, possession of an offensive weapon, disorderly conduct, and harassment.

Dotson was unable to post bail and was transported to the Bucks County Correctional Facility to await court action.
