Wanted Man Arrested, 3 Face Retail Theft Charges: Warrington Police Report

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Warrington Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests in the township, including a warrant arrest and numerous retail theft arrests.

Wanted Man's Luck Runs Out

An Abington man has been turned over to Montgomery County authorities after he was picked up in Warrington on a domestic relations warrant. Just after 10:30 p.m. on July 12, a Warrington officer conducting a patrol at the Sunoco observed a suspicious vehicle. An investigation identified the driver as a 43-year-old man from Abington, who was wanted on an active warrant out of Montgomery County. Police arrested the man after he exited the store where he had been playing a video game. He was transported to the Warrington Police Department and later turned over to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department.

Shoplifting Suspect Arrested

Police were called to Walmart for the report of a retail theft in progress on July 12. Upon arrival, officers met with Walmart loss prevention personnel, who had detained a 35-year-old man in the store's vestibule. The loss prevention employee told police that the man had selected $188.72 worth of merchandise and exited the store without paying for the merchandise. He was placed under arrest and during a search, officers located a marijuana cigar. He was transported to the station, where he was processed. He was later arraigned by Judge Chichilitti, who set bail at $1,000 unsecured

Cart Loaded, Checkout Skipped

Police were called to the Wegmans for the report of a retail theft in progress on July 6. Upon arrival, officers met with the store's loss prevention employee who had detained a 28-year-old woman. The employees told police that the woman had filled a shopping cart with merchandise and exited the store without paying for the merchandise. The stolen merchandise was valued at $741.32. The woman was placed under arrest and transported to the station where she was processed. She was arraigned by Judge Wertman, who set bail at $70,000 unsecured.

Skipping the Scanner, Meeting the Police

Police were called to Walmart for a retail theft in progress on July 3. Loss prevention employees told police that a 53-year-old woman from Philadelphia intentionally skip-scanned 10 items while using the self-checkout registers. After paying for only a portion of her merchandise, she exited the store without paying for $96.50 worth of items. She was taken into custody without incident, transported to the station where she was processed and released.
