Man arrested in threats at Palmer Township auto shop, police say (lehighvalleylive.com) — A 20-year-old Easton man was jailed after police say he threatened a manager at Mavis Discount Tire in Palmer Township, allegedly brandishing what turned out to be pellet guns during a dispute over offering cut‑rate oil changes. He faces misdemeanor charges including terroristic threats and simple assault, with a preliminary hearing set for August 28 in Northampton County.
   

2. Why a proposed Chick-fil-A was tabled by Palmer Township planners (lehighvalleylive.com) — A proposed Chick-fil-A at the former Rite Aid site on South 25th Street in Palmer Township has been temporarily tabled while developers address stormwater, landscaping, and traffic concerns. Officials are especially focused on traffic flow and pedestrian safety for students from nearby Easton Area and Wilson Area high schools who might walk there, including a possible intersection redesign and raised median to limit left turns.
   

3. Study finds these are the 10-best colleges for financial aid in the US (mlive.com) — Lafayette College in Easton earns a spot on a new list of the nation's best colleges for financial aid, meeting 100% of need for first-year students who qualify. Even so, average costs run about $92,000 a year, with typical need-based scholarships covering roughly $54,000 and leaving around $38,000 out of pocket, a key figure for local families weighing college choices.
   

4. Man headed to Juggalo festival busted with 128 lbs of pot, 2.5 lbs of psilocybin mushrooms (krcgtv.com) — An Easton man was jailed in Missouri after officers allegedly found more than 130 pounds of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms in his truck en route to a music festival. Authorities say he'd recently been released on unrelated drug charges in Pennsylvania and now faces serious trafficking and delivery counts while being held without bond.
