New kiosk is Erie County's latest effort to reduce drug overdoses, STDs (centredaily.com) — A new 24/7 health-supplies kiosk outside the Erie County Department of Health on West Second Street now offers free Narcan, condoms, sharps containers, hygiene kits, and more to Erie residents. Officials hope the machine and adjacent needle drop box will cut overdoses, STDs, and discarded needles reported along the bayfront and in neighborhoods like Little Italy.
   

2. Gannon's CLEER Marks First Year with More Than 17,000 Visitors (erienewsnow.com) — Gannon University's CLEER center at Erie's Blasco Library has drawn over 17,000 visitors in its first year, connecting residents and students with Lake Erie science. With new aquatics lab equipment coming online, locals can expect more hands-on research demonstrations, youth programs, and community events focused on the Great Lakes and our local waterways.
   

3. Erie police investigating after man said masked person stabbed him (centredaily.com) — Erie police are investigating after a 31-year-old man reported being stabbed in the stomach by a masked person near West 19th or 20th and Poplar streets early Oct. 5. He's being treated at UPMC Hamot, and officers found no suspect or blood trail in the surrounding west side blocks.
   

4. What did the Liberty Bell sound like? (aip.org) — A Liberty Bell replica at Penn State Behrend in Erie is helping researchers model how the original bell once sounded. By measuring vibrations and frequencies on the campus replica, they've closely matched classic bell tuning and shown how engineers use this kind of analysis to understand and prevent damaging vibrations in structures.
