• Freeport passes $41 million budget, tax increase for Butler County residents (butlereagle.com) — Freeport Area School District has approved a $40.91 million budget that raises property taxes again for Butler County residents to fund high school renovations and other rising costs. Armstrong County residents will see a slight tax decrease as millage is rebalanced between the two counties. District leaders say the hike is driven largely by future debt service and ongoing contract negotiations.
