Gettysburg School Board must tackle budget deficit (gettysburgconnection.org) — Gettysburg Area School District leaders are weighing a 3.5% property tax increase to help close a $1.8 million budget deficit for 2026-27, with a final vote set for June 1. Residents can ask questions and comment at school board meetings on April 20, May 4, and May 18, all at 7 p.m. at the District Administration Building on Biglerville Road.

2. Gettysburg advances projects; welcomes new police chief (gettysburgconnection.org) — Gettysburg Borough Council approved a new five-year trash and recycling contract, advanced several street and sewer projects, and confirmed dates for spring brush collection and overnight work on Buford Avenue. The meeting also introduced new Police Chief Dave Snyder and continued planning for November’s major “Lincoln at Gettysburg” anniversary event expected to draw large crowds.

3. Former Gettysburg Mayor expected to appear in court (abc27.com) — Former Gettysburg Mayor Chad-Alan Carr is due in Adams County Court following his arrest in Texas on serious charges filed by Pennsylvania authorities. Gettysburg residents are urged to contact State Police in Gettysburg or PSP Tips if they have relevant information as the investigation continues and borough leaders move forward with a new mayor.

4. Daniel Edward Barnhart - Worcester County News Bayside Gazette (baysideoc.net) — Gettysburg-area readers are remembering Daniel Edward Barnhart, born in Gettysburg and a longtime member of the Gettysburg Eagles Aerie, who passed away March 31 at age 66. Services are planned in Ocean City, Maryland on May 9 and a local Celebration of Life will be held at Legion Woods Pavilion in Biglerville on July 11.

5. Softball Secures Split Against Bullets in Resumed Second Game, 9-1 (godiplomats.com) — Franklin & Marshall’s softball team finished off a weather-delayed game in Gettysburg on Thursday, topping the Bullets 9-1 in five innings to earn a series split. Gettysburg College fell to 14-18 overall and 5-5 in the Centennial Conference, as F&M’s offense broke the game open after play resumed from Tuesday’s lightning stoppage.
