• Blair County settles foster care case for $97,500 (altoonamirror.com) — Blair County commissioners in Hollidaysburg have agreed to pay $97,500 to settle a federal civil rights lawsuit brought by three former foster children, without admitting wrongdoing. The county must cover the payout and legal fees itself after insurance carriers declined coverage, following the foster parents’ earlier criminal convictions in Clearfield County for years of abuse.

The move follows months of controversy over the Blair County Planning Commission, the resignation of its executive director, and a formal request for the state to review the agency’s operations and finances.
   

• Details released in fatal accident (huntingdondailynews.com) — State police based in Hollidaysburg have released new details about a single-vehicle crash in Tyrone Township that killed a 19-year-old Tyrone resident early Sunday morning. Investigators say the car left Kettle Road while negotiating a curve, hit several trees, then a large tree on an embankment before rotating and coming to rest in a roadside ditch.
