HATBORO, PA — The Iron Oven will soon be heating up Hatboro.

The longtime restaurant on Street Road in Southampton is taking over the vacant Ross & Co. site on South York Road, its owner said.

Iron Oven Owner Alex Nalbandian told Patch that he hopes to open sometime in the fall, hopefully in October.

"It's a long time coming," he said of operating at the 16,000-square-foot location.

Nalbandian started the process of acquiring the site when Bernie's closed, but Ross & Co. stepped in. It's owner, though, bickered with the Hatboro Borough Council for showing a lack of support for the business and closed after 10 months.

Nalbandian plans on sticking around for the long haul.

His Iron Oven has operated for over 8 years at 1134 Street Road in Southampton, offering a cozy atmosphere with great meals, drinks, and service. Iron Oven employs 110 people.

Hatboro residents should expect the same.

"I plan to bring the same thing as in Southampton," Nalbandian said.

He said the Iron Oven is known for its long rolls that are baked on the premises. His menu features clean ingredients and has specials every month.

"One thing lacking in the world these days is quality," said Nalbandian, a married father of three who lives in Newtown. "We give people a great meal and a great experience."

Nalbandian said a general manager has already been hired and staffing should be put in place by September.

"We are excited to have them," Hatboro Borough Manager Diane Hegele told Patch. "We think they will do a great job and make Hatboro home for a long time."

Nalbandian said borough officials have been a "huge help" in providing resources to get him rolling.

"I’d like to say Hatboro is a great town that I really wanted to be a part of. I absolutely love the small-town atmosphere, and I hope I can help it grow even more over the years," he said.
