Police Officers Recognized For Heroic Efforts In Hatboro

HATBORO, PA — Numerous police officers in the borough and surrounding communities were recognized at the Hatboro Borough Council meeting on Monday night.

Police Chief Mark Ruegg recognized police officers from Hatboro, the Lower Moreland Police Department, the Horsham Police Department, and the Upper Moreland Police Department for their "outstanding police work."

These were some of the awards given to police:

• A unit commendation for exemplary teamwork and apprehension was delivered to Sergeant Paul (HPD), Officer Wessels (HPD), Detective Sergeant Dilks (HPD), Detective Woods (HPD), Officer O'Neill and K-9 Kermit (LMPD), Corporal McCoy (LMPD), Officer Cappellano (LMPD), Officer Gorham (Horsham PD), and Officer McDowell (UMPD).

• A unit commendation for life saving was delivered to Hatboro's own Sergeant Simon, Officer Figueroa, and Officer Kimball who utilized an AED to save the life of a resident in cardiac arrest.

• A commendation for outstanding service was delivered to Detective Sergeant Dilks for exceptional investigative and police work.

"We are so incredibly lucky to have such highly trained, hard-working officers both within our department and in our surrounding communities including Lower Moreland, Horsham, and Upper Moreland," officials said.
