• JTASD faces deficit, max tax hike (tnonline.com) — Jim Thorpe Area School District is weighing a 4.1% property tax increase for 2026-27 while still relying on reserves to cover a nearly $2.9 million deficit. Officials warn that years of flat taxes, rising costs, and shrinking aid have drained fund balances, and the board is expected to vote on the final budget at Wednesday’s 7 p.m. meeting.
   

• Lebanon Valley College News (tnonline.com) — A Jim Thorpe native, Gabrielle Cinicola, is representing the community at Lebanon Valley College’s Inquiry Symposium by presenting research on stress and performance in Division III athletes. The Jim Thorpe Area High School graduate is pursuing an exercise science degree alongside other regional students showcasing diverse projects.
   

• Carbon Foundation announces Ron Hydro athlete award fund (tnonline.com) — A new endowed scholarship will provide $500 each year to a Jim Thorpe Area High School boys basketball starter who’s active in community service, honoring longtime resident and alumnus Ron Hydro. The first award went to senior Caiden Hodor, recognized at JTAHS Senior Awards Night, with the Carbon County Community Foundation managing the fund for future Jim Thorpe scholar-athletes.
