School District of Lancaster prepares to borrow up to $35M if necessary (lancasteronline.com) — School District of Lancaster leaders are seeking approval to borrow up to $35 million through a short-term tax-anticipation loan so they can cover summer payroll and bills. Cash flow problems, past overspending, and a structural deficit are squeezing the budget, even as the board considers a 4.7% property tax hike that would add about $200 to the average homeowner’s annual bill.
   

2. Lancaster city to split with suburban partners infrastructure loan for sewer upgrades (lancasteronline.com) — Lancaster City Council has approved using a low-interest state loan to upgrade key wastewater treatment equipment, with suburban sewer partners sharing the remaining borrowing. Council also backed a joint grant bid for smarter traffic signals and a shared-use path near McCaskey, and set a June 24 special meeting on new zoning rules for data centers that could shape future development.
   

3. Lancaster County man accused of rape, assault found guilty at trial (abc27.com) — A Manor Township man has been found guilty in Lancaster County Court of raping and assaulting a woman at knifepoint in 2024 after violating a protection from abuse order. Jurors convicted him following a four-day trial, and he now awaits sentencing in a case highlighting ongoing concerns about domestic violence protections in the Lancaster area.
   

4. Man pleads guilty to shooting Lancaster County mom in front of her daughter: officials (local21news.com) — A man has pleaded guilty to attempted murder and related charges after shooting a Lancaster County mother multiple times in front of her young daughter in December 2024. The victim, who was attacked in East Cocalico, continues to recover from lasting injuries and credits her children for motivating her long rehabilitation, supported in part by community fundraising.
   

5. Fans from Ecuador, Mexico and beyond gather at Philadelphia FIFA event (wgal.com) — World Cup fever is spreading beyond Philadelphia, with a FIFA watch party and festival set for Lancaster this Friday as part of statewide fan events. Organizers say the long-running Fan Festival aims to welcome everyone, giving local soccer fans a chance to gather, celebrate international teams, and cheer on U.S. star and Hershey native Christian Pulisic close to home.
