MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A new township manager has been hired with a starting date set for next month.

Middletown Township has appointed Christopher Hoffman as its next township manager.

Hoffman, who will begin his tenure in August, now serves as the township manager for Lower Moreland Township in Montgomery County, a position he has held since 2013.

Township officials said Hoffman brings more than 15 years of municipal government experience and a strong background in local government administration, budgeting, operations, personnel management, and community engagement.

“The Board feels strongly that Chris will bring a collaborative, compassionate, and employee-focused approach to leadership while always keeping the best interests of our residents at the center of operations," Bernadette Hannah, chairwoman of the Middletown Township Board of Supervisors, said. "We are confident in his ability to lead Middletown Township with professionalism, stability, and integrity.”

During his tenure, Hoffman has overseen municipal operations across multiple departments, managed a multi-million-dollar operating budget, led personnel and labor relations efforts, coordinated land development projects, and worked with elected officials, department heads, consultants, and community stakeholders.

Hoffman also served as assistant township manager for Lower Moreland Township, where he helped oversee public communications, grant administration, service contracts, and zoning initiatives.

“I am honored to join Middletown Township’s staff and Board of Supervisors in serving the Middletown community,” Hoffman said. “I am excited for the opportunity and challenge ahead in Middletown, where I know a strong foundation already exists.”

Hoffman earned a Master of Public Administration degree with a Certificate in City Management from Villanova University and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Saint Joseph’s University.

He serves on several professional municipal organizations, including the Association of Pennsylvania Municipal Managers and the International City/County Management Association.

In addition, Hoffman serves on the Executive Committee of the Delaware Valley Workers’ Compensation Trust, helping guide regional collaboration and oversight on municipal risk management and employee safety initiatives.
