Apartment Building Fire Draws 12 Fire Departments In Delco

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, PA — A Delaware County apartment building fire drew firefighters from 12 different departments Tuesday night. But the building's sprinklers prevented potentially heavy damage, officials said.

The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. in a ground-floor apartment at 14000 Elam Drive in Concord Township.

A dozen fire departments responded, including stations in Delaware.

The fire was contained to one unit and placed under control within a half-hour.

"Thankfully the apartment complex is outfitted with fire sprinklers, and they assisted with fire suppression and without them the fire could’ve been much worse," said the Concordville Fire & Protective Association, which led the response.
