Boil Water Advisory Issued In Marple Twp. After Possible Contamination

MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — Aqua Pennsylvania has issued a Boil Water Advisory for part of Marple Township due to a water main break that could cause contamination.

The advisory, issued Wednesday, advises nearly 200 customers to boil water before drinking it, brushing teeth or washing dishes until further notice.

People on the following streets are impacted: Carli Drive, Atwater Road, North Kent Road, South Kent Road, Stoney Creek Road, Fox Lane, Kent Road, Orchard Drive, North Sproul Road from Carli Drive to Marple Road, Arbor Road, and Arden Road.

A water main break caused a loss of "positive pressure" in parts of the water-distribution system, Aqua said. Impacted customers are advised to boil water as a precaution until samples in the water system bring back satisfactory results in tests for bacteria.

Aqua recommends letting water boil for one minute and then letting it cool off, or use bottled water.

"We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation," Aqua said.
