World's Largest Producer Of Homeopathic Medicine Opens New Warehouse In Newtown Square

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — One of the world's largest producers of alternative medicine, which has long based its U.S. headquarters in Newtown Square, recently celebrated the grand opening of its new warehouse in the community.

Boiron's new 78,898-square-foot logistics center soft-launched in May at 4400 Alice Grim Boulevard — about a mile away from the international company's U.S. headquarters in Newtown Square. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Sept. 16.

Boiron — the world's largest manufacturer of homeopathic medicine — says the new facility meets increased demand for its products and expands the company's storage and distribution capacity.

The temperature-controlled warehouse also streamlines Boiron's U.S. operations. Boiron USA previously subcontracted three warehouses in California, Harrisburg and a different Newtown Square location. Boiron no longer uses those facilities, according to a company spokesperson.

The new warehouse features "energy-efficient" machinery, 24-hour surveillance and large windows that provide natural light, the company says.

A team of 28 employees, including eight new hires, operates the center.

"The logistics center represents a significant investment in Boiron’s continued growth in the U.S.," Janick Boudazin, Boiron USA's CEO, said in a statement. "It gives us the capacity and infrastructure to serve our retail partners, healthcare practitioners and consumers more efficiently while maintaining rigorous standards for product storage, regulatory compliance and environmental responsibility."

Boiron was founded 90 years ago in France, where the company operates its world headquarters.

In 1983, the company established a U.S. presence with a subsidiary headquarters in the Philadelphia suburbs. The American headquarters moved to Newtown Square a decade later.

Leonard Altieri, chair of the Newtown Board of Supervisors, touted Boiron's local presence.

"Boiron USA has been an exceptional neighbor and community partner," the elected official said in a statement. "Its leadership and employees have continually supported local programs, charitable causes, and community initiatives, showing that responsible economic growth and a genuine commitment to the community can go hand in hand."
