📰 News we're reading

1. Land eyed for warehouse development in Lower Nazareth sold to PPL Electric (wfmz.com) — Residents in Lower Nazareth Township should know that PPL Electric just bought the 11.7-acre Lonat Drive property that had been slated for a controversial warehouse, with plans to potentially build a future electric substation there. The warehouse proposals on Lonat Drive and Nazareth Pike are still under appeal, and township officials say they weren't informed of the sale before it was recorded.

2. 10 free things to do with kids in the Lehigh Valley (keystonenewsroom.com) — Families in and around Nazareth can enjoy Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center's 19 miles of trails, wildlife-watching area, and kid-friendly programs completely free. It's one of several no-cost Lehigh Valley outings highlighted, alongside parks, museums, farms, and playgrounds in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, and beyond, offering plenty of budget-friendly weekend options close to home.

3. 'That little bitty baby Martin guitar': Dolly Parton's surprising tie to the Lehigh Valley (wfmz.com) — Nazareth's own Martin Guitar plays a starring role in a family story connecting local craftsmanship to country legend Dolly Parton. A Martin executive from Nazareth helped Richie Owens replace Dolly's long-lost childhood guitar, and Owens is performing today at the Martin Guitar Museum in town for fans who want to hear the tale in person.

4. Something old, something new helps keep iconic Lehigh Valley manufacturer thriving (lvb.com) — Nazareth-based C.F. Martin Guitar & Co. is using a mix of traditional craftsmanship and new automation to keep growing from its local roots into a 125,000-guitars-a-year operation. Speaking at a Bethlehem manufacturing forum, the CEO described how carefully adding technology to delicate steps, while preserving generations of family know-how on the factory floor, helps sustain the company's global reputation.
