The project aims to improve drinking water safety, protect public health, and keep the city in compliance with environmental regulations, while a separate grant supports sewer upgrades in nearby Sharon.
   

• Juanita J. Lombardo, New Castle, PA (wkbn.com) — New Castle is mourning the loss of 73-year-old Juanita J. Lombardo, a lifelong area resident who worked as a cashier on Wilmington Road and loved racing, cards, and crossword puzzles. She is survived by her husband Robert, four children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and four brothers; arrangements are through William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, with no services scheduled yet.
   

• New Castle Woman Sentenced to Two-and-a-Half Years in Prison for Fentanyl, Heroin, and Cocaine Trafficking (beavercountyradio.com) — A New Castle woman has been sentenced in federal court to 30 months in prison and three years of supervised release for her role in a fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine trafficking conspiracy. Prosecutors say she helped retail drugs in both Beaver and Lawrence counties as part of a ring based in Detroit and New Castle, with prior convictions factoring into the case.
