Art Quilts: An Introduction for Art Lovers + Collectors with Meg Cox

Phillips' Mill presents a special evening with celebrated arts journalist, author, and quilt expert Meg Cox, a former culture reporter for 17 years at The Wall Street Journal. In her visually rich presentation, Meg will cover the history of art quilts and the people and institutions that collect them. She will share tips from prominent collectors and examples of works by pioneering art quilters and current rising stars. These are not your traditional bed quilts!
Meg serves on the Exhibitions Committee of the International Quilt Museum, is a past president of the nonprofit Quilt Alliance, is a staff writer for Quiltfolk magazine and author of multiple books including The Quilter’s Catalog: A Comprehensive Resource Guide. She writes the wildly popular monthly newsletter, Quilt Journalist Tells All.
This event is presented in conjunction with a new exhibition at Phillips' Mill, "Art Quilters Celebrate Independence," featuring 39 art quilts celebrating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. by artists of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) of Pennsylvania. Meg's talk, presented amidst this dynamic collection of innovative textile artworks, is a must-attend event for collectors, curators, and fine art enthusiasts alike.
November 17, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open early to allow browsing of the exhibition before and after Meg's talk. Tickets: $20 general admission, $10 for Phillips' Mill Members. Purchase tickets and learn more about the exhibition at phillipsmill.org.
