DUI Arrests, Theft, And Fraud Reports: Newtown Township Crime Log
Police reported two suspected DUI arrests, a construction site theft and fraud complaints in Newtown Township.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Newtown Township police reported two suspected driving under the influence arrests and several theft and fraud incidents in the department’s incident blotter covering April 10 through 16.
According to the blotter, the first DUI arrest happened on April 12 at approximately 4 a.m., when police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Toyota Tundra for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Durham Road and Brownsburg Road.
Police reported that, upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police also reported that the driver refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.
A second suspected DUI arrest was reported on April 13 at approximately 6 p.m. after police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of an Acura RDX for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Campus Drive. According to the blotter, the officer detected the odor of alcohol, and the driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily.

Police reported that the driver was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Police said the driver refused to submit blood for testing, and charges are pending.
In addition to the DUI arrests, police documented a theft from a construction site on April 14 at approximately 12:15 p.m. Police said they were notified of the theft in Newtown Township and reported the total value of loss was $900.
About 15 minutes later, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a Newtown Township resident stopped at police headquarters to report fraudulent charges on her account. According to police, the incident was documented, and the resident was advised to contact her banks, credit card companies, and credit bureaus to further monitor the accounts.
Police also were dispatched April 15 at approximately 10:45 a.m. to a Newtown Township home for the report of a theft from a mailbox. Police said approximately $50 was taken from birthday cards, and the incident was documented.
On April 16 at approximately 10:45 a.m., police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a fraud. According to police, the incident was referred to the detective division for further investigation.
