NEWTOWN, PA — St. Mary Medical Center will hold its fourth annual community health fair on Saturday, April 18, at the Newtown Athletic Club, marking the first year the event will be held in partnership with the club.

The free public event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Newtown Athletic Club, 120 Pheasant Run, Newtown. No membership is required to attend.

The fair will feature activities, information and demonstrations by Trinity Health Medical Group physicians and St. Mary colleagues. Planned offerings include hands-only CPR demonstrations, heart rate checks, robotic medicine demonstrations, and other health-related displays.

Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic Medical Group physicians in cardiology, heart and vascular, oncology, physical therapy and women’s health are expected to participate, along with community partners and organizations.

"We're calling it the St. Mary Marketplace. You're going to see all the different services that we provide," said Dr. Gerry Wydro, chief medical officer at St. Mary. "You're going to meet members of our nursing team and our physician leaders. You're going to meet and talk with our liaisons. And you're going to hear and learn about all the different things we offer in healthcare.

"More importantly, you're going to have the opportunity to schedule appointments, and you're going to learn about preventative care, advanced care, oncology, and our trauma program. You're going to learn about injury prevention. And you're going to learn about how we take care of people having cardiac emergencies," said Wydro.

Families will also find activities aimed at children. According to organizers, a Kids Zone will include bounce houses, face painting, a balloon artist, and an informational exhibit where children can become "junior doctors" and learn about services offered by St. Mary Medical Center.

The fair is returning for its fourth year, with this year’s event expanding through the medical center's partnership with the Newtown Athletic Club.

The event is open to the public.
