Washington Crossing Sword Appears In "Cast In Steel" Streaming Series

UPPER MAKEFIELD, PA — Washington Crossing Historic Park played a small part in season one of "Cast in Steel," a national competition and streaming series, which debuted in July.

The park loaned the competition a replica of the Bailey Silver & Ivory-Hilted Cuttoe carried by John Godzieba, the park’s General Washington reenactor.

The replica helped connect the competition’s modern engineering challenge with the history that inspired it.

Throughout the season, university teams from across the country were challenged to design, cast, and test functional steel swords inspired by George Washington’s legacy, putting their creativity, craftsmanship, and engineering skills to the test.

The Youngstown State University took home the $25,000 grand prize in the season finale.
