Wrightstown Farmers Market To Mark 20th Year With Harvest Festival

WRIGHTSTOWN, PA — The Wrightstown Farmers Market will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Saturday with a Harvest Festival from 9 a.m. to noon on the grounds of the Middletown Grange Fair on Penns Park Road.

The festival will open at 9 a.m. with a welcome ceremony followed by a veggie costume parade with prizes at 9:45 a.m., and a pie tasting contest at 10 a.m. Anyone who wants to make a pie for the contest can email managerwfm@gmail.com.

Throughout the morning, the Harvest Festival will also include several family-friendly activities including face painting, pumpkin decorating and a Taste of Fall's Bounty cooking demonstration.

Food and music will also be part of the celebration with live music by Goose Creek Pioneers and anniversary food specials including "market-sourced grass-fed burgers!"

The market is organized and presented by the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance, which launched the market two decades ago and also oversees the Doylestown Farmers Market.

The idea back in 2006 was to provide an avenue for local farmers using sustainable practices to market and sell their products and produce.

While advocating for all local farms and farmers, foodshed alliance prioritized farms for the market that are committed to growing without pesticides, herbicides, antibiotics and hormones, and as much as possible without fossil fuels.

The Wrightstown Market is held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon on the grounds of the Middletown Grange Fair, 576 Penns Park Road, from May through Thanksgiving.
