The CCSSO National Teacher of the Year program identifies exceptional teachers across the country, celebrates their work in and outside the classroom, and, through one-of-a-kind professional development opportunities, helps them amplify their voices and empowers them to take part in policy discussions at the state and national level.

While in the nation’s capital, Mr. Welch, CCSSO’s 2022 Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year, participated in a series of interviews with the CCSSO’s selection committee. The committee’s selection for the 2022 National Teacher of the Year will be announced later this spring.

Welch is one of four finalists alongside teachers Autumn Rivera (sixth grade science, Colorado), Whitney Aragaki (high school science, Hawaii) and Kurt Russell (high school science, Ohio).

The teachers were also interviewed by media outlets such as Education Week and Politico during their time in D.C. (See links below.)

Should he be named National Teacher of the Year, Welch would spend the next year serving as an ambassador for education and an advocate for all teachers and students. We are so #nhproud of him!
