1 Dead In Multiple Pittsburgh Shootings

A violent night in Pittsburgh has left a man dead and another shot. Get the details here.

PITTSBURGH, PA — One person is dead and another critically wounded in separate shootings that occurred in the city late on Monday.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, the first shooting occurred just before 11 p.m. in the 2300 block of East Hills Drive in East Hills, where police were responding to three separate ShotSpotter alerts totaling 32 rounds.

While going to the scene, officers were notified that a man had been shot and was being transported by a private vehicle to a hospital. A short time later, officers located the victim in a vehicle at the intersection of Penn and Homewood avenues.

The victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet released the name of the man killed.

There are no arrests involved at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

The second shooting occurred just after 11 p.m. in Market Square, Downtown.

Police arrived on the scene and found a man with two gunshot wounds to the chest. Officers applied chest seals and provided additional aid until medics arrived.

Pittsburgh EMS took the victim to a nearby hospital where he immediately underwent surgery and is in critical condition.

Witnesses told officers that the victim was involved in an altercation with someone known to him before the shooting occurred.

No arrests have been made yet in connection with the incident. The investigation is continuing.
