Deadly Liberty Bridge Crash: Latest Info

Here's an update on the fiery Liberty Bridge crash that claimed the lives of two people.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A woman is facing numerous charges in connection with a deadly crash on the Liberty Bridge in which two people died.

Police filed the charges Thursday against Madison Rau, 23.

The fiery crash occurred in March. Laila Jone, 25, of Baldwin died at the scene; Jaren Wilkerson, 28, of Duquesne, died at an area hospital a few days after the incident.

According to court documents, when first responders arrived at the scene of the crash, they found a collision involving three vehicles - one of which was engulfed in flames.

Forensic data from Rau's vehicle indicated she was driving around 100 mph through the tunnel and exited the tunnel at 93 mph before slamming into another vehicle.

According to the criminal complaint, Rau had a blood alcohol level of .141 percent following the crash. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is o.08 percent.

Among the charges filed against Rau: Homicide by vehicle, DUI, aggravated assault by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment, careless driving and reckless driving.
