Fast Food Chain Opening Multiple New Western PA Locations

PITTSBURGH, PA — Chick-fil-A plans to open nine new locally owned and operated restaurants throughout the state over the next two years.

The fast food chain announced its Pennsylvania expansion plans on Monday. According to the company, the new restaurants are expected to create approximately 1,800 new jobs.

The new restaurants will extend from Pennsylvania’s western border with Ohio, east to the Interstate 99 corridor, and south to the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Since the first western Pennsylvania Chick-fil-A restaurant opened at Westmoreland Mall in 1979, the brand has grown to 20 locally owned and operated restaurants across the region, with the last opening being Chick-fil-A Uniontown in 2025.

• North of Pittsburgh: Plans include a new restaurant in Mars slated to open in October, followed by a location in Butler by Spring of 2027 and another in Gibsonia in 2028.
• Along the I-80 corridor: New restaurants are anticipated to open in Hermitage and DuBois by 2028.
• East of Pittsburgh: Indiana will welcome a new restaurant by spring of 2027, and new restaurants are planned to open in Murrysville, Latrobe, and Johnstown by the end of 2028.

“Western Pennsylvania is an exciting place for Chick-fil-A to continue growing because of the strong communities that make this region so special,” said Chad Terry, area director of the northeast region for Chick-fil-A.

“As we expand the brand, we’re focused on creating more opportunities for local ownership, which in turn leads to new jobs and developing leaders within the restaurant. We look forward to seeing how Chick-fil-A will make a positive impact in each community we join.”

Chik-fil-A currently has 20 locations in Western Pennsylvania.
