UPMC Donates Medical Trauma Kits To Pittsburgh Police (patch.com) — Pittsburghers may soon see better-equipped officers on city streets as UPMC donates 229 medical trauma kits to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, including gear for every front-line patrol vehicle and SWAT personnel. Mayor Corey O'Connor and UPMC CEO Leslie Davis say the partnership, which also includes officer training and kit replenishment, aims to speed lifesaving care before EMS arrives and strengthen public safety across city neighborhoods.

Pittsburgh church destroyed in fire to be demolished soon (cbsnews.com) — A fire-damaged former Grandview United Presbyterian Church in Mount Washington is set to be demolished as early as this week, after debris concerns forced closure of the nearby Carnegie Library and part of Grandview Avenue. Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O'Connor says the city will first focus on cleanup, then work with residents and the Pittsburgh Presbytery as a potential condo project is considered.
   

3. Pittsburgh Teen Goes on Months-Long Violent Crime Spree After Repeatedly Being Released (lawenforcementtoday.com) — A 19-year-old man faces numerous charges after a months-long series of alleged thefts and assaults that stretched across several Pittsburgh locations, from Downtown corners to transit stops. Police say repeated releases preceded a string of August incidents that ended with his arrest and a $30,000 bond, with a court hearing set for early September.
   

4. 11 Investigates: Pittsburgh police chief talks about chase policy violations (wpxi.com) — Pittsburgh's police chief is tightening oversight of vehicle pursuits after an internal audit found officers chasing without proper justification, skipping lights, and failing to use cameras. He says chases should be limited to the most serious crimes, especially after a recent pursuit-related crash injured several people and led to lawsuits claiming inadequate training.
   

5. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library celebrated in Westmoreland County (wtae.com) — Families with children under five in the city of Pittsburgh can get Dolly Parton's Imagination Library books mailed to their homes for free, thanks to Reading Ready Pittsburgh.
