Pottstown Man Flung Off Overpass, Killed In Crash: Reports (patch.com) — Pottstown readers are learning that 33-year-old resident Karl Kirschner died after being thrown from his motorcycle off an I-95 overpass in Philadelphia late Monday night. State Police say he struck a guardrail on the I-95 South off-ramp to I-676 West and was found on the roadway below, later dying at the hospital. No other injuries were reported as the investigation continues.

Construction to begin on Pottstown Beacon of Hope shelter (pottsmerc.com subscription) — Construction is finally starting on the Pottstown Beacon of Hope shelter at West High and Glasgow streets, bringing 45 private rooms and emergency beds for unhoused neighbors. Local officials and service providers say the Days Inn shelter program has already helped hundreds of Pottstown residents, but warn that federal funding shifts and limited affordable housing mean the borough's leadership and zoning decisions will be crucial in the months ahead.
   

3. Pottstown councilman takes aim at Land Bank contractor (pottsmerc.com subscription) — A Pottstown borough councilman is questioning whether elected officials or their spouses should profit from rehabilitating Pottstown Land Bank properties, highlighting a 2022 flip of a once-blighted Gable Avenue home. The contractor and Land Bank leaders defend the project as a vetted, income-restricted success that returned a problem property to the tax rolls, while the dispute exposes deeper tensions on council over ethics and leadership.
   

4. All Accept Liquor License Revenue … Even If It's Not Much (travelswiththepost.com) — Pottstown will receive $2,200 in returned state liquor license renewal fees, part of more than $57,000 being shared by 45 municipalities in Montgomery, Berks, and Chester counties. While the amount is modest, it goes straight into local coffers and can be used however borough officials choose, typically to support general government services for residents.
