Schuylkill County America 250 Celebration Weekend (discovernepa.com) ā Downtown Pottsville will host Schuylkill Countyās America 250 Celebration Weekend on June 26ā27, with fireworks Friday night and a Saturday parade and festival starting at 11 a.m. Expect live music, historic reenactments, kidsā activities, games, and plenty of food as the county marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

2. New trees planted, old ones retired by Pottsville's Shade Tree Commission (republicanherald.com) ā New street and cemetery trees are going into the ground across Pottsville as the cityās Shade Tree Commission replaces aging and invasive species with hardier varieties. Volunteers, students, and city workers just planted 26 trees, and residents are invited to a free Arbor Day program at Forest Hills playground on April 24 to learn more about local trees.

3. Schuylkill County Woman Charged with Assault, Child Endangerment After Incident in Pottsville (skooknews.com) ā Pottsville police responded late Wednesday to a reported disturbance on Fairmont Avenue and arrested a woman accused of assaulting a 7-year-old boy. Officers reported visible injuries on the child and cited prior child welfare involvement before charging the mother with child endangerment, simple assault, and harassment, then releasing her on unsecured bail.

4. Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5K to be run in Pottsville this weekend (republicanherald.com) ā Pottsvilleās streets will be packed Saturday morning as more than 3,000 runners and walkers tackle the Yuengling Light Lager Jogger 5K, starting and finishing at the Mahantongo Street brewery. Registration runs up to race morning, with free parking at several downtown lots, dozens of vendors on site, and plenty of visitors getting a taste of Pottsvilleās businesses and steep hills.

5. Music at the Mansion (discovernepa.com) ā Free āMusic at the Mansionā concerts are set to return to Pottsvilleās Historic Yuengling Mansion on select Sundays this summer, with live local bands, food, and Yuengling beer from 3ā7 PM. Each date also features a new art exhibit in the carriage house, showcasing its transformation into the Schuylkill County Council for the Artsā headquarters.
