1. County Treasurer announces Shillington Borough now can pay county real estate taxes online (berksweekly.com) — Reading and West Reading property owners can now pay current county and municipal real estate taxes online, alongside Shillington and several other Berks communities. The new system lets you search parcels, see what’s due, and pay in full by card, though service fees apply and delinquent or school taxes still use separate processes.
   

2. Final Reminder: June 15 Deadline for Required CRIZ Business Reporting (bctv.org) — Businesses inside Reading’s City Revitalization and Improvement Zone have until Monday, June 15, 2026, to file their required state and local tax report or face penalties. The city is again offering free help through an accounting firm, with appointments available by email or phone and detailed instructions posted on readingpa.gov.
   

3. Breast Cancer Support Services Announces Appointment of Five New Board Members (bctv.org) — Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County has added five new board members with deep ties to Berks County, including leaders connected to the Reading Royals and RE/MAX of Reading. Their backgrounds in communications, business, energy, and community engagement are expected to strengthen local support, education, and resources for residents facing breast cancer throughout the Greater Reading area.
   

4. Penn State Berks students conduct impactful research across diverse fields (psu.edu) — Penn State Berks students are leading research projects that range from children’s emotional regulation to local environmental studies, with many presenting at campus and countywide symposia. One award-winning team includes a business major from Reading, and the Higher Education Council of Berks County event also features Reading Area Community College, underscoring the role of local campuses in the region’s academic life.
   

5. How this Pa. grandfather made it out of ICE detention and back to his family (berksweekly.com) — A Berks County grandfather has returned home after 45 days in ICE detention, freed thanks to a court ruling that challenged a recent federal policy on humanitarian visa applicants. His family’s case began after their daughter was killed in a 2025 domestic violence shooting in Reading, and they are now focused on raising her surviving child while their visas remain pending.
