Fourteen Female Scholar Athletes recognized across Schuylkill County (republicanherald.com) — Shenandoah readers can cheer on Shenandoah Valley’s own Lucero Zavala Perez, honored among 14 standout Female Scholar Athletes from across Schuylkill County for her achievements in sports, academics, and school activities. The countywide honorees will be celebrated at an April 26 banquet at Mountain Valley Golf Course, which also recognizes longtime community volunteer Cathy Heim and features former local scholar-athletes as guest speakers.

Canonization process stopped for Shenandoah-native Father Ciszek (shensentinel.com) — Shenandoah residents are learning that the Vatican has halted the canonization cause of hometown Jesuit priest Father Walter Ciszek, despite decades of work and thousands of documents gathered. Local Divine Mercy Parish leaders say the new Father Walter Ciszek Society will continue honoring his life, sharing his spiritual writings, and encouraging devotion to his example of faith.

Little Leaf Farms plans another expansion, will become largest of its kind in the world (shensentinel.com) — A major greenhouse expansion in nearby Banks Township will soon make the Little Leaf Farms campus near Lofty the largest leafy greens operation in the world, boosting the broader regional economy around Shenandoah. The project, backed by a new contract with Dutch partners and highlighted during a visit by Netherlands royalty and Governor Josh Shapiro, adds to local high-tech agriculture growth.
