YMCA Kicks Off Spring Youth Soccer and Travel Basketball in the Lehigh Valley
From a Brand Partner: RCY Sports provide quality, professional instruction and competition in a positive Y environment

WHITEHALL, PA — River Crossing YMCA has announced the opening of enrollment for RCY Sports soccer and travel basketball leagues this spring.
RCY Soccer teams will meet twice per week at Stockertown Borough Field for a one hour evening practice during the week and a one hour game on Saturdays. Teams are organized into four age groups: 3-4, 5-6, 7-9 and 10-13 year olds, combined boys and girls.
“RCY Soccer focuses on learning the game, as well as learning to communicate and cooperate as a team,” shared Kevon Allen, Easton/Phillipsburg branch director for River Crossing YMCA. “Our program emphasizes the development of important life skills, along with ball skills. Understanding what it means to win and lose as a team, with positive sports conduct, helps our youth navigate future competitive environments, not all of which occur in-game.”
RCY Soccer at the Stockertown Borough Field begins March 30 and continues through May 30. Registration is open through March 16. Interested families can learn more about RCY Sports on the Y’s spring leagues webpage, register here, or email Kevon Allen (kallen@ymcarivercrossing.org) with any questions.
Along with soccer, the Y has also announced a new spring travel basketball league for boys and girls in sixth through ninth grades at the Easton, Slate Belt (Pen Argyl) and Bethlehem branches. The new league combines skill development, teamwork and regional competition in a community-focused YMCA environment.
Travel basketball teams practice twice a week, or once a week along with a regional game. Each team will face at least one other River Crossing YMCA branch team during April and May, with the season culminating in a tournament at the Doylestown branch on June 6. Every player receives an official team jersey as part of the registration fee.

Team locations include Easton, Bethlehem, Fairless Hills, Quakertown, Pen Argyl (Slate Belt branch) and Flemington in NJ (Deer Path branch). For more information, readers can visit the Y’s spring leagues webpage. Easton area families can register online here, and families who prefer the Bethlehem branch can sign up here. To join the Slate Belt team in Pen Argyl, families can register online here.
