• U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Begins Excavation at Shallow Land Disposal Area (dredgewire.com) — Radiological cleanup has officially begun at the Shallow Land Disposal Area on River Road in Vandergrift, with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers starting excavation of contaminated soil on April 7. Crews will work slowly and under constant monitoring to protect workers and nearby communities, and residents will have a chance to ask questions at a public information session planned for May 6, 2026.
