9/11 Memorial At Hartsville Fire Co. Remembers Victims

WARMINSTER TOWNSHIP, PA — He stood quietly reading the names of the Sept. 11 victims that were on a 9/11 memorial plaque at the Hartsville Fire Co.

It was the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on America and people were gathering Friday afternoon before the fire company's annual ceremony honoring the victims.

This First Responder quietly remembered the victims as some flowers and candles were placed near his feet.

Fire officials gathered in front of several fire trucks in their formal uniforms as they awaited crowds coming to the ceremony.

Meanwhile, people visited the memorial plaque, the World Trade Center towers display, and the rusted steel beam from one of the towers, a permanent reminder of the tragedy of that day in New York City.

The Hartsville Fire Company held its annual 9/11 Flag Memorial and Memorial Service, displaying 403 American flags on the front lawn of the York Road fire station in honor of the 343 FDNY firefighters, 37 Port Authority officers, and 23 NYPD officers who lost their lives while saving others on Sept. 11.

Two additional flags honor local Firefighters John Kulick and Tristan Smith, who were killed in action while serving in Iraq.

On Sept. 11, 2001, 19 al-Qaida terrorists hijacked four airplanes, flying two into New York City's World Trade Center and one into the Pentagon.

Passengers fought back on the fourth, United Flight 93, which crashed near Shanksville. The deadliest U.S. terror attack killed 2,977 victims.
