Meet 8 Baby Rats: Lower Bucks County's Shelter Pet Of The Week

Editor's Note: This is a weekly series featuring pets up for adoption from the Women's Animal Center in Bensalem Township.

BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Meet the baby rats.

Eight 3-month-old rats are looking for homes. They are: Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, Libra, Leo, Zodiac, Gemini, and Taurus.

Anyone who has never considered rats as pets before should be prepared to fall in love.

The Women's Animal Center said that rats are incredibly intelligent, social, affectionate companions who form wonderful bonds with their people.

They can learn their names, master tricks, recognize familiar voices, come to greet you, and happily spend time playing, exploring, or simply enjoying your company. All of that personality fits into one wonderfully tiny package.

At just three months old, these little stars have their whole lives ahead of them and are at a fantastic age to bond with their new families. With enrichment, attention, and rat friends to share their days with, they make engaging and rewarding companions.

You don’t need room in your home for the entire zodiac group, either. These youngsters can be adopted in pairs or compatible groups, or several can go home together. Because rats are social animals, they will always benefit to have at least one rat companion of the same gender.

Whether you’re already a devoted rat person or have never held a rat in your life, don’t overlook these little ones. Visit our shelter, spend some time with them and discover just how easy it is to fall in love with rats.

The baby rats are available for adoption at Women’s Animal Center, 3839 Richlieu Road, Bensalem, Pa. (PA Kennel License # 1516) 215.750.5252. Visit the Center’s website to view the shelter pets available for adoption or to make a donation: www.womensanimalcenter.org.
