Geisinger holds Narcan distribution in Scranton, Wilkes-Barre to follow Thursday (fox56.com) — Wilkes-Barre residents can pick up free Narcan and drug-testing supplies Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farmers Market on Public Square. Geisinger staff will show you how to use the overdose-reversal spray and answer questions, aiming to make lifesaving tools as common and accessible as a household fire extinguisher.
   

2. Luzerne County manager condemns theft of American, county flags from courthouse lawn (fox56.com) — American and Luzerne County flags were stolen from the courthouse lawn in downtown Wilkes-Barre, and county officials are calling the theft a disgrace. Manager Romilda Crocamo says surveillance footage will be turned over to law enforcement and urges anyone with information to come forward as new flags are raised.
   

3. Warning lights installed outside Hollenback Fire Station in Wilkes-Barre (citizensvoice.com) — Drivers near Hollenback Fire Station in Wilkes-Barre will now see new emergency warning lights on North Washington Street, activated when fire and EMS vehicles enter or return from calls. City officials say the $39,050 system, funded through economic development dollars, aims to prevent near-miss crashes and improve safety for both first responders and the public.
   

4. Penguins Unveil 2026-27 Promotional Schedule (oursportscentral.com) — Wilkes-Barre hockey fans get a full look at the Penguins' 2026-27 home-game promotions, from $2 beer Fan Control Fridays to Kids Free Fridays and theme nights like Star Wars and Teddy Bear Toss. The schedule also highlights community-focused events, military appreciation games, and details on when and how to buy single-game and season tickets at Mohegan Arena.
   

5. HS FOOTBALL: Whitehall holds off pesky Wilkes-Barre Area (citizensvoice.com) — Wilkes-Barre Area's Wolfpack narrowly dropped their home football season opener to Whitehall, 21-19, after a late two-point conversion try was intercepted in Plains. Despite the loss, quarterback Declan Gregor and receiver Deacon Eisenbach sparked a big second-half comeback that has coaches optimistic about the young team's potential this fall.
