Williamsport Area School Board approves tax increase (sungazette.com) — Property owners in the Williamsport Area School District will see a real estate tax increase to 18.01 mills, adding about $86 per $100,000 of assessed value for 2026-27. Officials also detailed homestead and farmstead exclusions funded by state gambling revenue and moved several tax-delinquent properties back onto the active tax rolls. 
2. Williamsport bus driver accused of making child porn appears for hearing (northcentralpa.com) — Williamsport parents are learning that a local school bus driver has appeared in court to face multiple child-related charges after investigators say they found thousands of concerning images on his phone. Authorities allege many photos involved unsuspecting students, and questions remain about an earlier plea deal and his current employment status with the bus company.
3. Gardening camp in Williamsport grows more than vegetables (sungazette.com) — Young residents are getting their hands dirty at the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Community Garden on Park Avenue, where a new youth camp is teaching how food is grown and why it matters. Kids are planting their own raised beds, planning return visits in July and August, and hearing about future features like an edible walkway designed for neighborhood families.
4. Williamsport Civic Chorus announces new director hire (sungazette.com) — Williamsport music lovers will see a new face on the podium as the Williamsport Civic Chorus welcomes conductor and tenor Michael Welch for its 2026–2027 season. With experience ranging from university teaching to church work and community programs, he brings a strong background in choral music and education to the ensemble’s next chapter.
5. Lycoming County officials: Townships must act now to regulate data centers (wfmz.com) — Lycoming County commissioners in Williamsport are urging townships to get zoning rules in place now so they can regulate future data centers instead of being caught unprepared. Officials pointed residents to the county planning commission’s monthly Williamsport meetings and stressed that municipalities can’t ban data centers outright but can impose reasonable restrictions through ordinances.
