18-Year-Old 'Involved' With State Nearly Dies: DCYF

DCYF notified the Rhode Island Office of the Child Advocate.

An 18-year-old "involved" with the state nearly died, the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families revealed.

"The incident occurred on May 27, 2026, and DCYF has notified the Office of the Child Advocate," DCYF said in a media release.

"The youth was involved with DCYF at the time of the incident," according to the release.

Confidentiality laws prohibit DCYF from disclosing additional details, the release said.
