Motorcycle Collides With Trailer Pulled By Pickup, Johnston Man Killed:Cops
The pickup truck turned left to tow the trailer into a driveway, police said.
JOHSNTON, RI — A Johnston man was killed when he drove a motorcycle into a trailer pulled by a pickup truck into a Hartford Avenue driveway, police said.
James Packard, 38, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with serious injuries following the 1:30 p.m. Saturday crash, Johnston Police Chief Mark A. Vieira said in an email.
Packard was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Vieira.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that a GMC Sierra 2500 towing a flatbed trailer was traveling westbound on Hartford Avenue and was making a left turn into a residential driveway when a Yamaha motorcycle traveling eastbound collided with the trailer," the chief said.
The driver of the pickup remained at the scene of the crash and was cooperative, according to Vieira.

"At this point in the investigation, there is no evidence to support criminal charges," he said. "The crash remains under investigation by the Johnston Police Department Traffic Bureau."
