"Vehicles leaving I-95 encounter nearby intersections and turning movements that regulate the flow," the release said. "During daytime travel, speeds drop quickly and cars begin stacking. The ramp can fill sooner than expected, especially as drivers line up for signals ahead. The short distance between freeway movement and city traffic keeps the pace tight, and vehicles often adjust speed more than once before clearing the junction."

The second and third most stressful were Interstate 195 Exit 1C to Taunton Avenue in East Providence and Interstate 295 Exit 3A to Route 2 in Warwick.

"Traffic heading into East Providence converges at this exit, particularly during daytime travel. Vehicles slow as they approach intersections located not far from the ramp," the release said of 1C. "During busy periods, cars stack and the flow tightens. Drivers frequently begin braking sooner than expected."

As for 3A, the release said the "exit carries steady daytime demand."

"Vehicles leaving I-295 slow as they approach signalized intersections positioned close to the ramp," according to the release.

"When volume increases, brake lights appear earlier than anticipated and the ramp fills," the release said. "Drivers often encounter congestion before reaching the end of the exit lane. The transition from highway speeds to local traffic happens quickly, and movement tends to occur in short bursts as signals cycle."
