📰 News we're reading

• Welcome to Willett: Roundabouts, rotaries, and rights-of-way (eastbayri.com) — Drivers using Willett Avenue near the Barrington–Riverside line now must yield to vehicles already in the two roundabouts, after RIDOT quietly flipped the right-of-way rules this summer. Officials say the change, plus a new "road diet" and bike lanes, should slow speeds and improve safety, though Barrington leaders may not have been fully notified.

• Upcoming Registration Deadline for November 3 General Election (newportthisweek.com) — Barrington voters have until this Sunday, October 4, to register if they want to participate in Rhode Island's November 3 general election. You can drop off registration forms at the Barrington Police Station on Federal Road between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., or use the state's online tools and mail ballot options if that's easier.

• District 67 candidates differ on their top priorities (eastbayri.com) — State House District 67 candidates outline very different priorities that could affect Barrington and neighboring Warren. Independent Joseph DePasquale wants to overhaul Rhode Island's affordable housing law to restore more local zoning control, while Democrat Nicole Jellinek focuses on speeding up medical licensing to ease the statewide healthcare provider shortage.
