The hopefuls also sparred over Belton Court development, school funding, and how to make Barrington more business-friendly while keeping seniors and veterans from being taxed out of town.

District 67 candidates focus on budgets, bills, housing, healthcare (eastbayri.com) — Voters from Barrington and Warren heard District 67 candidates Joseph DePasquale and Barrington resident Nicole Jellinek debate taxes, housing, healthcare, and gun laws at a forum in the Barrington Public Library. The two contrasted sharply on issues like the Millionaires tax and state spending priorities, while agreeing that Rhode Island must tackle healthcare access and affordability.
   

3. Eagles outpace Rams and Townies in opener (eastbayri.com) — Barrington High School's boys cross country team kicked off its dual-meet season with impressive wins over LaSalle Academy and East Providence, edging powerhouse LaSalle 26–30. Local runners from Barrington filled the top 20, led by standout Colby Napolitano and a deep pack of underclassmen who showed the Eagles could be contenders all fall.
   

4. Between a Rock and a Reading Place (johnstonsunrise.net) — A new poetry collection inspired by rocks from Allin's Cove, a Barrington Land Conservation Trust beach, is sparking a free Earth Science Week event in Cranston on October 14. Poet Karen Donovan and a URI geologist will blend art and science as they explore how local rocks, including those from Barrington's shoreline, can tell personal and geological stories.
